| ABOUT THIS SITE This web-site has been created by scholars from Ukrainian Center for Cultural Studies in Kyiv, Ukraine. It contains results of research projects commissioned by Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Ukraine according to the Ministrys annual Plans of academic research and development works, as well as scholarly articles written by our researchers. You can also find here some culture-related news and personal pages of some of our researchers. UKRAINIAN CENTER FOR CULTURAL STUDIES - is a public research institution founded and funded by Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Ukraine. The center exists since 1994, over 60 scholars work here, 16 among them hold PhD-level academic degrees. The Center includes:
Institute of cultural policy focuses its research activity on public cultural policy analysis, particularly on legal, economic and social issues of cultural sector in Ukraine, on studies and forecasts in contemporary cultural developments in Ukraine, with special attention to post-communist cultural transformation and national/cultural identity (re-)shaping. The institute also drafts policy proposals and culture-related legislation improvements for Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Institute for problems of traditional folk culture and amateur arts studies Ukrainian traditional culture, contemporary amateur theater, music, dance, decorative arts, as well as cultural heritage issues. Scholars of this Institute also authored several handbooks for cultural animators, leaders of amateur art collectives, and folklore collectors. Most of these can be found on this site. The work of Institute for cultural legislation is focused on analyzing strengths and weaknesses of Ukrainian culture-related legislation and designing proper amendments to it or new legal acts and regulations for cultural sector. Laboratory of technologies for cultural sector focuses its work on issues of the use of new technologies in cultural sector and in creativity, as well as on the design of technology-related regulations and recommendations for public cultural organizations. |
